Industrial Robotics & Frequency Converters
Electrical drive and control
| Application Introduction
The joints of robots, servo motors, drivers, and controllers all generate heat during operation. Overheating can lead to permanent damage of components, performance degradation, loss of precision, and even safety incidents. Temperature sensors are used for temperature detection and protection. Frequency converters act as the brain and heart of electrical drive systems. Their core components, such as IGBT power devices and other semiconductors, perform high-frequency switching and inversion, a process that generates substantial heat. Temperature sensors monitor the temperature of these power devices to prevent converter failure due to overheating.

PTFE-Type / SENSOR_CNSA Series
Teflon temperature sensor
Electrical terminal structure
Overheat protection for joint motors and servo drivers is typically achieved by embedding or tightly attaching sensors to the servo motor windings and the heat sinks of the driver's power components. Small PTFE temperature sensors and terminal-block type temperature sensors are commonly used for this purpose.

SENSOR_CNSE Series / CSG Series
Epoxy encapsulated temperature sensor
Chip Resistor
Battery Management Systems (BMS) are critical for mobile robots or AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles). Temperature monitoring within lithium batteries is particularly important and is typically accomplished using epoxy-encapsulated temperature sensors or SMD NTC thermistors for detection and protection.

Electrical terminal type temperature sensor
Temperature monitoring and protection for IGBT power devices and rectifier units in frequency converters are achieved by installing terminal-block type temperature sensors on heat sinks or near the power components. These sensors enable real-time temperature tracking, allowing the system to reduce or limit output current to minimize heat generation.

NTC Power Thermistor
PTC Power Thermistor
During the power-on instant of a frequency converter, the DC-link capacitor charges rapidly, generating a huge inrush current. This current can damage the rectifier bridge and electrolytic capacitors, and may even trip the upstream circuit breaker. An NTC thermistor connected in series within the circuit provides high resistance in its cold state to limit the current. In some high-power or low-energy-consumption frequency converters, a "relay bypass" solution is adopted. In such cases, either a PTC or NTC can be used for coordination.

MOV Surge Arrestor Varistors
MOV will be connected in parallel between L/N on the communication side to absorb overvoltage from the power grid (such as large equipment start stop, induced lightning coupling, etc.).
